NONEXISTENT
A movie based on a story that was never told.
Client
Genderkamer
The Genderkamer is a specialized unit fighting against transgressive behavior. They wanted to focus on the movie industry, and empower victims of such behaviors to come forward. So we launched a non existing film, based on the true story of a victim who never spoke out.
4 years after the #MeToo global movement, 1 in 2 women in Belgium are still victims of harassment in the audiovisual industry.
Most of these victims fear reprisals, ignoring the existence of an intermediary or a solid structure to help them tell their story and guarantee their anonymity.
Genderkamer is there for that reason. Their mission is to combat and prevent transgressive behaviors in all their forms, including harassment, bullying, discrimination, and verbal, psychological, and sexual violence. They offer a listening ear, to discuss experiences and use the methods of restorative justice.
To take action, Genderkamer needs testimonies from the victims. Without that, not much can be changed.
So we created ‘NonExistent’. A movie based on a story that was never told.
Because if you don’t talk about it, it doesn’t exist.
NonExistent was launched like a real movie, during the renowned Gent Film Festival.
NonExistent received widespread attention across Flanders, being featured on national radio, TV news, and in various newspapers.
And even though our film didn’t exist, it led to:
+19%
increase in testimonies immediately after its launch
6
new cases and trials —
which this time, will exist
for real.
